Celebrate

Greetings,

Not a long read this time round, just a quick update to get you up to speed with what’s happening this month. Plus news of a very special offer further down!

First off, ATO #41 with Circle of Fire inside was mailed off last month. Everyone should have their copy by now, but if you didn’t get one and you think you should have, write us at admin@atomagazine.com and we’ll investigate. Didn't order one and not sure what the issue was about, but you’re curious to know more? Click on the banner below and check out the webpage for details on this remarkable game.

Next up from ATO will be issue #42 with A Thunder upon the Land inside. Currently at the printers, this two game pack looks at the battles of Narva and Poltava which bookend the career of Charles XII and Swedish expansionism. The counter art for this one features some splendid period uniforms by Terry Leeds and mapwork by Mark Mahaffey.

Each turn represents about one hour of real time and each hex represents about 500 yards. This game uses chit-draw for wing activation and allows players to make tactical choices like forming squares or deciding if their dragoons will press home charges, with optional rules for volley fire and desperation attacks.

If you start or renew an expired subscription today, this will be the first issue you will receive. Click on the banner below to visit the game's webpage with more details.

Also, our sister division, Turning Point Simulations, has updated their website with the third year of releases in their 20 game series. These games all come from the 20 Decisive Battles of History as laid out in Mitchell and Creasy’s famous book. These games will be released after ATO #42 above, but the website is live and accepting advance orders for new games now. Click on the banner below to visit the TPS website and learn more.

And about that special offer? Cinco de Mayo - or the fifth of May - commemorates the Mexican army's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867). A relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage. The tie-in? We know sometimes people just "miss" an Annual edition that they really wished they had. Subscribers are used to that "substantial discount" if they buy the Annual when they subscribe.

Okay, we'll give you a break. And non-subscribers too! Throughout the month of May, all of our large Annual editions are on sale as we celebrate "Sync-Up de Mayo"! Just click on the banner below to get the full details on our website!

OK, that’s the news! Thanks for reading.
